# Ketchikan Fishing Charters

Ketchikan sits at the edge of some of the most productive fishing water in Alaska. The channels, coves, and open straits surrounding the island put you within minutes of salmon runs and halibut grounds that anglers travel thousands of miles to reach. Go Fish Ketchikan runs private, owner-operated charters out of these waters — no crowded party boats, no strangers sharing your rail. Just you, your group, and a guide with over 30 years of Alaska chartering experience.

Three trips are available: a salmon charter starting at $265 per person, a four-hour halibut charter at $295 per person, and a six-hour halibut and salmon combo at $425 per person. Every trip is run by the boat owner himself.

---

Why Ketchikan for Fishing

Ketchikan's geography does the work. The island sits along the Inside Passage, where cold, nutrient-rich water pushes through narrow channels and feeds massive populations of king salmon, silver salmon, and Pacific halibut. The surrounding area is also home to more bald eagles than anywhere else in the world, along with humpback whales, killer whales, porpoises, and sea lions — wildlife that shows up on virtually every charter run out of here.

This isn't incidental scenery. It's what makes a Ketchikan fishing charter different from fishing anywhere else on the West Coast.

---

The Charters

Salmon Private Charter — $265/person Four to six hours of actual time on the water targeting salmon. The boat owner operates every trip personally. Fish are iced immediately after the catch and held until the trip wraps up. After the trip, Clover Pass Resort can fillet and flash-freeze your catch, fillet and smoke it, or do a combination of both. They ship frozen fish via FedEx directly to your home and accept all major credit cards. Shipping cost varies based on the total weight of your catch.

Four-Hour Halibut Charter — $295/person Four hours on the water going after halibut — the fish locals call the "chicken of the sea" for good reason. All fishing gear, bait, and tackle are provided. This is an exclusive charter, meaning your group has the boat to yourselves. If you're arriving by cruise ship, book this trip at least one hour after your scheduled docking time to give yourself enough buffer.

Six-Hour Halibut & Salmon Combo Charter — $425/person Six hours on the water gives you 50% more fishing time than the four-hour trips, and opens up the possibility of targeting both halibut and salmon on the same outing, weather permitting. This is the trip to book if you want the full picture — more time on the water, more species, and more time to take in the wildlife that makes this stretch of Southeast Alaska unlike anywhere else.

---

What's Included

All quality fishing gear, bait, and tackle are provided on every charter. Fish are iced immediately after the catch. Post-trip, Clover Pass Resort handles filleting, flash-freezing, and smoking, and ships your fish home via FedEx. Alaska fishing licenses must be purchased separately — your guide can point you in the right direction.

FAQ

Do I need to buy a fishing license before the trip? Yes. An Alaska fishing license is required and must be purchased separately — it is not included in the charter price. Your guide can advise you on where to get one before your trip departs.

I'm arriving on a cruise ship. How do I get to the boat? About one hour before your ship docks, you should have cell reception and can call Sourdough Cab Company at 907.225.5544 to arrange a pickup. Cabs accommodate up to six passengers. Book your charter at least one hour after your scheduled docking time to make sure you have enough buffer between the ship and the dock.

What happens to my fish after the trip? Freshly caught fish are iced immediately on the boat. After your trip, Clover Pass Resort can fillet and flash-freeze your catch, fillet and smoke it, or split it between both options. They ship frozen fish via FedEx to your home address and accept all major credit cards. Final shipping cost depends on the total weight.

Is the boat shared with other groups? No. Every charter is a private, exclusive trip. You won't be sharing the boat with strangers. The boat owner and guide operates every trip personally.

Will we see wildlife out on the water? Almost certainly. The Ketchikan area has more bald eagles than anywhere in the world, and humpback whales, killer whales, porpoises, and sea lions are regularly spotted. According to your guide, wildlife appears on every charter run in these waters.
